Of Gangs and Royals

CONFESSIONS - chapter 4
Walking down the street, we pass a huge building
with a sign that reads 'WINNER INDUSTRIES' on the building above the door, and
as we walk past Cat drops his head forward and slouches, as if trying to hide
and I look through a window and see a picture of a very nicely dressed man with
a pale blonde hair and a mustache and I think 'he looks like Cat' and then I
look at him and I know.
After we've walked a few blocks away from the
building I stop walking and look at him, he stops after a few steps and looks
back at me wondering what I'm doing.
"What? What is it?" he
asks.
I look hard at him and say "Cat that was your dads office back
there wasn't it?" I wait for an answer and he just looks down and I nod "you
didn't want your father to see you with street trash. right." I still wait for
him to answer, I sigh, and he looks up at me tears in his eyes, he quietly says
".no. that's not it. its just. he . he wouldn't understand.."
"Understand
what Cat that you befriended a street kid?" I ask slowly loosing my patience but
still remaining calm.
"Yes. he. wouldn't understand why I want to be your
friend. he. he thinks I should be happy just having Mill and Lena as friends.
but. I don't know . he'd think that I was trying to damage the name Winner by
befriending someone like you." he pauses and looks me in the eye and says "but
I'm not Luca I'm not I . I think your such a great person . and I want to be
friends with you because I like you but. he wouldn't see it that way. no. he'd
think I would be trying to damage the name.." he just stops talking bends his
head and I notice his shoulders start to shake slightly, that he was crying, I
close the gap between us, and hug him, "It's ok Cat no worries ok? Hey I was
just wondering I just thought that you were just pulling the rich and better
than thou attitude but now I know better ok?" he sniffles a bit and pulls back
nodding and wiping away his tears.
"Ok?" I ask him.
He nods and
lets out a shaky breath "yea I'm ok"
"Good 'cause none of my kids are
ever upset and I'm not gonna just let that happen now" I say smiling, he looks
confused "your kids?" he asks. I smile again "Yea my kids you see Cat . I'll
tell you something really important as long as you don't go telling anyone who
will tell an adult ok? Promise on punishment of spending five minutes alone in a
cage with me." I say seriously.
"I promise Luca I won't tell anyone" he
says looking as serious as I sounded, but he seemed confused about the cage
comment.
"Ok" I looked around, a crowded street is not where I wanted to
tell anyone about my 'family' I spot an alley way just up the road and I pull
Cat there and into the alley.
"Ok Cat," I said sitting down on a tipped
over garbage can, "have you ever heard of the gundams?" at his nod I continue
"do you think what the papers say about them being vigilantes is true?" I look
at him very seriously, "no. I don't think they are. I mean. me and Mill have
looked through the files on people that have been injured by them and well. they
were all bad people, in a way I guess they deserved it." he looks at me a little
scared that I'd go running into the street and tell everyone what he said, I
just nod "Well your right about that Cat they only do it to people who deserve
it" I look at him and I say " I'm the leader Cat, I'm the one dubbed Epyon" he
looks so shocked, it looked like he was going to pass out, I quickly walk to him
and hold him by the shoulders, "Cat you ok? You look like your going to pass
out?" he only nods and swallows a few times.
"Luca why are you telling me
this. you just met me. I . I" he stuttered out.
I take him over to where
I was sitting and sit him down, "I know I just met you Cat but I can read people
very well and I know that I can trust you with this cause your one of mine now."
I say and that seems to make him panic more. "What . what do you mean one of
yours." 'He's almost hyper ventilating' I think, "Cat I need you to take a few
deep breaths for me ok?" he nods and breaths deeply a few times "ok good, and
what I meant by mine is that the kids I take care of are all pretty young and
well they need protection and love and me, Duo, Trowa, Dee, Zero, Poe, and Wufei
Chang all take care of them and love them like they were our real family and now
Cat your part of it ok, you have a family that is always happy to see you and
will always love you" as he listens to this tears well up in his eyes and he
smiles and practilly jumps to hug me.
He pulls back, a question shining
in his eyes, "what can I do to help?"
I laugh and ruffle his hair and put
him in a headlock and we head for the entrance of the alley way, and Cat asks
"Luca what did you mean by that cage comment?" I grin and say rather proudly,
"Well you see Cat I used to be a professional cage fighter. I retired
undefeated!" he just laughs.
