THE TOASTER.. - chapter 8
Dee was in the kitchen, singing,

Dees dancing and head banging to the
music.
We done what for Can't take much more One! Nothing wrong with me!
Two! Nothing wrong with me! Three! Nothing wrong with me! Four! Nothing wrong
with me!
She starts to jump around, Cat and Zechs walk in, Zechs looks at
her eyebrows raised, then to the child that's dancing and singing next to
her.
One! Some things got to give! Two! Some things got to give! Three!
Some things got to give! Four! Some things got to give!
Cat goes and
turns the music down, gaining the attention of both Dee and the little boy next
to her, they both turn around and look at him and at the same time say, "hey! My
tunes!" making Cat laugh, Dee scowl and the little boy glare.
Dee sighs
and looks at the guy next to Cat, and then goes into a panic, "Cat what are you
doing bringing someone here! Luca's going to kill you," and the rant continues
till Luca walks into the room, looking all haggard, and snaps, "Dee quiet! .
Morning Cat. Cat's friend," she nods to the prince, who looks really
uncomfortable, thinking he got Cat in trouble for tagging along, I shuffle to
the coffee maker and pore myself a huge cup of coffee, have a sip then turns and
re-evaluates the situation, "Cat he is?" Cat playing along for the princes'
benefit, replies "this is Zechs, he's my friend and I don't think he'll tell
anyone about you guys." I just nod my approval and go back to my coffee, Dee
looks at him and takes a step toward him, only I bark at her and she backs off,
and Cat falls to the floor killing himself laughing, 'cause I barked like a dog,
I just shrug, and Cat pulls himself off the floor, just as Trowa and a shy
little girl, named Kari, who's all of three, walk into the kitchen, Kari on
Trowa's back laughing.
"Morning you two." I say to them, Trowa nods at me
and goes to the counter and lets Kari off his back as he goes and searches the
cupboards for something to eat, and Kari just says, "mornin' Luc-ie," in her
cute childish way, and says to Trowa, "Toawa! I want toast!" he turns from the
cupboard, looks at her and nods, looks at me and pulls out a metal toaster that
looks like its seen better days.
He plugs it in, and puts some bread in,
and just starts laughing, Cat who finally has enough courage to say something to
him asks him, "why are you laughing?" and Trowa turns and still chuckling, and
says to him, "Ok people gather round! I'm telling the Luca kills toaster
story!!" he calls and a second later, foot falls can be heard, and Duo + Rafe,
Wufei + Poe, Heero + Bane all come crashing through the door and into the
kitchen, everyone gets comfy, some sit on the counter, others sit on the floor,
some stand.
"Ok-" he starts just as Luca mutters, "yay, story time with
uncle Trowa." And tries to walk out of the room only Heero grabs her around the
waist and pulls her down to the floor next to him, almost spilling her
coffee.
Trowa starts again, "Ok now, for the newbie's, I'll tell you
about the winter where we all thought we were going to die, it was so cold out
that year, Duo and Dee couldn't sing because they would've gotten frost-bite in
moments, and the rest of us were out of work, so we had to ration the food
supply, only knowing us we made a game outta it, the rules were no eating, as
long as you don't start to see things, well after a few days Duo, Dee, Poe,
Wufei, and I all dropped out cause we started to see things, well in the end it
was only Heero and Luca, and Heero being the ex-mercenary, we all thought that
he would win well . we were proven wrong on the sixteenth day he dropped out and
then there was only Luca, and Dee having bet on her won all our pillows for a
week, but anyway. Luca on the seventeenth day walks into the kitchen, and just
looks at the toaster, then she starts to frown at it, then just yelled out 'shut
up you god damn hunk of useless machinery' then pulled the toaster off the
counter and outta the socket and threw it into that wall there," he gestures to
behind Cat, then he walked over and grabbed Cat by the arm, pulled him a few
feet closer to himself and pointed at the wall where the dent was.
"And
that, everyone was the funniest thing I've ever seen." Trowa finishes up the
tail of the toaster and everyone is laughing hysterically.
"Ok, ok,
everyone shut up," I say getting up, "or I'll kill ya!" empty threat and they
all know it, but they all quiet down, "ok now plan for today! Trowa you got work
today?" I ask he just shakes his head 'no' and I notice that he has yet to let
go of Cat's arm, I smile, "ok then your workin with Cat," they both look a
little nervous, "Sally what are you doing today?" I ask her, and she seems
mildly surprised that I used her first name, since everyone calls her 'Poe', but
she just replies, "Well me and Wufei are going to get some more medical
supplies." I nod my approval, "ok Dee, Duo what 'bout you guys?" they both grin
like lunatics, "singing, only we're gonna take Rafe and Lucivar, you know to
collect the funds." Duo said, gesturing to the two small boy's sitting next to
each other, one with shoulder length bluish black hair, wide dark green eyes and
a cross around his neck, the other boy had silver colored hair just past his
shoulder, and bright blue eyes.
I again nod my approval, then look to
Heero, "workin down at the center, apparently I have to teach a bunch of young
rich girls." he says not sounding too pleased.
I look at Zechs, then back
to everyone, "Ok people! Let's do it!" and everyone starts to go about there
day, only Zechs is standing in the corner looking out of place and kind of lost,
". Hey Zechs how do you feel about helping me take some of the kids shopping?"
he just smiles and nods his head, and we walk into the living room where most of
the kids are still asleep on the old camping mats, and I walk over to some and
wake them up.
